Tryouts

This year, we will be expanding our tryout phase (6 sessions before State Championships, re-evaluate early 2025), to give coaches more time to put players through their paces, and to give coaches more time to see players in as many different situations as possible.

Trial squads will be reduced and cut during the tryout process, and this will happen at the end of each session. Players will be informed of the cuts at the end of the session, and parents informed within 48 hours of the session ending by the High Performance Manager.

Teams will be selected by the Head Coaches in the age group, in conjunction with the High Performance Manager.

State Championships Court Time

Due to the nature of the State Championships, and how short the games are, not every player selected is guaranteed to play in every single game.

Flames players are entitled to play in at least 3 State Championship games, assuming the player meets the teams expectations with regards to behaviour, attitude, and attendance. The Head Coach will determine the total amount of court time given.

Early 2025 - Into WABL Grading and WABL 2025

The 2024 State Championship teams will come back together inside their own age groups early in 2025, where coaches can tweak their squads, before naming their 2025 WABL Teams.

This is not a new tryout phase. This process is allowing coaches to move players up or down based on team personnel, State Championship form etc.

Teams will be selected by the Head Coaches in the age group, in conjunction with the High Performance Manager.

Cost

The cost of the tryout is $40. This is not refundable.

Can’t attend the Tryout’s?

Players that are absent from these tryouts, without an exemption, will not be included in the 2025 WABL team selection.

An exemption will only be granted by emailing hpm@rockinghamflames.com.au, with the players name, age, and reason for needing an exemption.

Exemptions will only be handed out by our HPM’s discretion, for things such as Injury, Illness, Family Travel etc.

Requesting an exemption does not guarantee one being granted, only a valid reason will be approved.
